So, what did it for you?

As we progress through life, there will be many transitions we will go through and many big mistakes we will make. Friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, houses, cars, jobs and shoes will change and we will no doubt on more than one occasion regret making a really silly mistake.

One area of life that most certainly does not fall under this bracket however is the rule of which football team we will support. I know plenty of people who have started off a staunch supporter of one club, then changed halfway through the season when the fortune of said club has changed and suddenly they find their new club at the top of the table. Equally, I’ve known people to not simply follow a football club through life but instead to follow a particular player throughout his career. While there is nothing wrong with this, I personally believe that someone who finds something like changing allegiances this easy to do, can no longer be trusted in any way, shape or form, and that all opinions they may have on all subjects in life thereafter, must be rendered completely invalid.

Reasons for supporting a football club come in all shapes and sizes, be it a family connection, an attraction to the team’s style of play or indeed one particular player that initially drew you in to the sport. Last week I decided to ask around to find out people’s stories on why they chose Arsenal. What started off as a very specific question eventually involved tales of favourite football matches and first football kits. Once all the replies I’ve received have been amalgamated (is that not just the best word… ever?) I’ll be posting a follow-up blog this week including all the responses I’ve received. With replies from Egypt to Los Angeles by way of Canada and the other side of the River Thames, I think it’s safe to say Arsenal Football Club is very much a club of the world.

If you’ve not sent me your response and want to, please leave yours in the comments below with your name and location (doesn’t have to be your real name if you’re running from the feds, but your real location would be good). If you follow me on Twitter (and if you don’t… you’re not missing much, to be honest), you can send me one of those little @ reply things or a direct message. Finally, if you know me in real life, you probably have my email address and real address, so you can tell me that way. Come over, we’ll have biscuits!
